Ohhh this is good! With an apple and shallot sauce cooked right in the same skillet, this is one of the most exciting, yet simple ways to cook a pork chop.
Ingredients
- Two bone-in pork chops
- Salt and lots of pepper, about 8 tablespoons coarsely and freshly ground
- 1/2 cup apple sauce
- 2 tbs apple cider vinegar
- Two medium shallots, diced
- Enough cooking oil to lightly coat your skillet
- Parsley for garnish
Recipe
About 20 minutes before you want to cook, pull your pork chops out and coat with salt on both sides, then press each side firmly onto a plate full of pepper until densely coated. Heat your skillet on medium/high heat, add oil once the skillet is heated, and coat it evenly. Sear your chop on one side for about 1–2 minutes, flip, and sear the other side. Turn the heat to medium/low, cover, and cook for 10 minutes. Add your shallot around your pork chop, stirring occasionally until golden brown. Add apple sauce and apple cider vinegar. Continue cooking for 2-4 minutes until the sauce is very thick. Remove the sauce from the pan and set it aside. Check the internal temperature of your chop; it should be 150–165 degrees, depending on how you like it. Plate your chop. Cover it with your sauce and a sprinkle of parsley.
